Larry Dexter Pierson,77, Passed away January 4th 2025 in Danville, Indiana. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 21st 1947 to parents Geraldine (Mitchell) Berridge and Willie D.Pierson.
Larry attended Washington High School and shortly thereafter was drafted to the Army and traveled overseas to the Vietnam War.
Larry had numerous occupations beginning with paper routes and AL's Supermarket as a child. After returning from the war he worked for Pop of the Cork Liquors, Cub foods, State Bank of Lizton and finally retiring from the Post Office in 2018.
He lived a full life of various hobbies and interests some of which included residing as President of the Lizton Lions Club and lifetime honoree, coaching youth softball, playing racquetball & bowling in the 80's and 90's, a tremendous love for music and dancing, endless yard work, woodworking, adopting and raising dogs, and finally- he was a diehard Colts fan.
Larry is survived by his wife of 35 yrs. Carla Pierson (Brunes) and four children; Pete Pierson (Gina)- mother- Ellen Hitchel, Bart Pierson (Ali)- mother- Lisa Sears, Adrian Sharkey (Tim) & Morgan Stewart (Andrew)- mother- Carla Pierson (Brunes).
His surviving six grandchildren are Kendall, Isaac, Kadyn, Dylan, Stryder & Iris.
His surviving four siblings are Linda Doutt, Jack Pierson (Laura), Debbie Wise (Jim) and Pam Arnold (Bill).
Larry lived a full 77 years of trials & tribulations, poverty, sickness, war, love, family and had many friendships along the way. Larry grew up in what is known as the "Valley" near downtown Indianapolis. He lived a fast paced city life until settling down in Lizton, IN. in 1995. Larry adapted to the slower paced country living well. In the event of his death, Larry wished to be cremated and scattered in various places of he and the families' choosing and we will all honor that request. He will forever leave his mark on everyone he met and every path he crossed. The following was his favorite quote-
"After All, Life is to Enjoy" - and that he did… A private service is to be held at a later date.
