Juliana "Julie" M. Hummel Mitchell, 83, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024. She was born June 20, 1941, in Terre Haute, Indiana and was a 60 year resident of Plainfield, IN.  She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Aaron) Evon.

Julie lived a life devoted to her family, faith, and service to her community. She was a proud and dedicated Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of Plainfield, serving for 20 years before retiring to spend more time with her loved ones.

Julie was a devoted member of St. Susanna Catholic Church for many years, where she was actively involved in the Choir and Women's Club. Her commitment to the church and its community was a source of strength and joy throughout her life.

Julie was married to James Hummel from 1964 until his death in 1984, and married Robert Mitchell in 1991 until his passing in 2021.  She found joy in her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and resilience in her sons:  James Hummel II (Renee), Mike Hummel (Dawn), Joe Hummel (Emily), and Chris Hummel (Alicia); step-children;  Vicki Boyd (Brad), Kathy Sherman (Steven), and Michael Mitchell (Dee).   Julie adored her grandchildren:  Addison (Caitlin), Anton (Kassidy), Abbey (Donta), Joey, Andrew, Alec, Eli, and Lucy, in addition to seven step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  She cherished the time spent watching them grow. She is also survived by her sister, Darline Bloomer, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

Visitation will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 East Main Street, Plainfield, Indiana. A funeral mass celebrating Julie's life will follow at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.

In honor of Julie's deep commitment to her faith, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 East Main Street, Plainfield, Indiana 46168.  Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.
