Joy Marciel (Moore) Gregory, born on June 7th, 1941, to William and Paulina Moore, was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus on April 2nd, 2026, after a life poured out in love, service, and quiet strength. From the very beginning, she brought something into the world that cannot be measured on paper: a quiet strength wrapped in compassion and joy that seemed to reach everyone she touched. She was the kind of woman who made people feel seen, truly seen. Caring and deeply selfless, Joy gave of herself freely—not out of obligation, but out of love. The kind of love that shows up every day, in a thousand small ways. As an artist at heart and a self-taught musician, she carried creativity within her like a second language. Whether through her art or music, she expressed what words sometimes could not. However, her greatest masterpiece was not something she painted or played through an instrument; it was the life she built and the family she raised. Joy was the proud mother of nine children, and she devoted her life to them with unwavering commitment. She poured everything she had into making sure they had more opportunities, support, and belief in themselves.
Her sacrifices were not loud, but they were constant. And because of those efforts, her children carry forward not only success, but the values she lived by: strength, compassion, and resilience.
She was intelligent and steady, strong without needing recognition, and generous in a way that left a lasting effect on everyone who knew her. To be loved by Joy was to be held up, encouraged, and silently guided toward becoming your best self. Her life was not defined by a single moment but a lifetime of giving, creating, and loving without limits. The world is quieter without her, but everything she touched still sings her song. Those who are embracing Joy in Heaven are her husband, Robert Arnold Gregory; her son, John Edward Gregory; her parents, William and Pauline Moore; and her younger sister, Ruby Ellen Moore. Those who are still here to remember her are her children, Liebe Terrell (Dennis), Robert A. Gregory II, Babett Gregory, Angela Shaw (Tom), Tina Lawson (Chad), Trina Schweikarth (Derek), Joy C. Gregory, Paulina Gregory, her 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 10, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Baker Funeral Home, Danville. Funeral services will follow ay 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Maysville Cemetery.
