Obituary

Jimmie Lee Eldridge, age 89, of Danville, passed away on June 26, 2026. He was born on January 05, 1937 in Jonesville, Virginia, to the late Viola (Young) and Harrison Eldridge. Jim is an U. S. Air Force veteran having served from 1955 until 1959.

Mr. Eldridge married Barbara J. Smith on February 24, 1962 at the Danville Christian Church of which they are both still members. He served in various capacities throughout the years including Chairman of the Board and received recognition as an Elder Emeritus.

Jim worked in the accounting department for Public Service Indiana for 30 years retiring in 1996. He then took a job with M.A.B. Paints in Speedway and retired again in 2006 after 10 years.

Jim was an avid reader and an active church member. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to State Parks for a family picnic and playing softball.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara J. Eldridge; sons, Steve Eldridge, Jeff Eldridge, all of Danville; brother, Roland Eldridge (Tomris) of Dover, Delaware; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Max Eldridge, Wilma Boyd, Flora Crain, Ruth Schick and an infant sister, Reba Eldridge.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 06, 2026 in the Danville Christian Church with burial to follow in Center Valley Cemetery, Clayton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service in the church. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sheltering Wings P. O. Box 92 Danville, IN 46122.
