Jerry L. Chappell, 84, passed away on May 25, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1938 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Philomena Francisca "Minnie" (Hollander) Chappell and Garret Hobart Chappell. He married Leanna Ebaugh in May 1960, and together they parented four children. He married Laura M. Ray in July 1997. Jerry resided his most recent years in Danville, IN.

Jerry owned Chappell's Remodeling Company for over 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of several churches throughout his life, the last being Northview Christian Church. He and Laura served many years in prison ministry in southern Indiana. Jerry delighted in sharing God's word with others, and in spending time with his family. He loved dogs, sports, and enjoyed watching the birds. Jerry also found pleasure in collecting antiques and guns. He loved making others laugh.

Jerry's parents; Leanna; wife Laura; siblings, Andrew Jackson Chappell, Hobart Chappell, Robert Chappell, Jewell Jenkins, Rosie Freson; and stepson, James Worley, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his children, Jackie Sumerlin (Tim), Teresa Surber (Jeff), Steve Chappell (Karen), Mark Chappell; stepchildren, Vance Worley, Laurie Worley; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way; and several step grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Northview Christian Church, Danville on Friday, June 02, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately at the church at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow in K of P Cemetery, Lizton. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northview Christian Church 623, IN-39, Danville, IN 46122.
