Obituary

Jayson Stephen Wodtke, 38 of Avon, tragically passed away in a car accident on Friday, October 10th, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis on April 15th, 1987 to Steve & Lori Wodtke of Avon. Jayson attended Avon & Danville Schools, graduating from Danville in 2006. Jayson was a National scholarship finalist for NROTC. Upon Graduation he attended Purdue University & was in the NROTC on Purdue's campus. Jayson was employed by Duke Energy as a Control Operator. Jayson's career with Duke began at Cayuga Generating station, followed by the Noblesville plant & west Lafayette Plant on the Purdue Campus. Jayson was proud to be one of the team members to work at this new plant. Prior to working for Duke Energy, Jayson worked for Geo Taylor synthetics & JDH Contracting as a cell tower climber. Jayson had a lifelong love of sports. As a boy he decided his favorite two teams were the Chicago Bears & Purdue. In grade school Jayson played in every sport offered at least once. By middle school he focused on wrestling & football. He also enjoyed water skiing, tubing or just floating in the water at Dale Hollow Lake. Many a houseboat trip was had with family & friends. Jayson was proud of his German heritage & loved going to Oktoberfest with friends while wearing his lederhosen outfit. He loved his friends dearly & everything he did with them were some of his best days. There just aren't enough words to describe Jayson, but anyone who knew him would say "to know him was to love him". He was a patient, kind & loving Daddy. He was happiest when he was with his girls. It really didn't matter what they were doing just being together was enough. Jayson was a son any parent would be proud of. He was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to family & friends. Jayson had a great sense of humor & could easily make Family & Friends laugh. Jayson truly was the definition of what the words Family & Friend mean. Survivors include beloved daughters, Jolene & Rosie Wodtke; parents; sister, Heather Michelle; brother, Derek Wodtke; nieces, Hailey "Finch" Ervin & Elaina Wodtke; nephews, Colton Ervin & Lincoln Wodtke; Uncle Jay Wodtke, "Sis" Jamie Wodtke; former wife, Holly Wodtke; dear friends, Chris (Sam) Tidd, Matt (Natasha) Walbert and Derek (Megan) Doub.  Jayson also has many additional Family & Friends, as well as his beloved dog, Sven.
