Janice LaRita Atkinson, 74, of Danville, passed away on June 12, 2026 at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville. She was born on November 12, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma, to the late Melba May (Arterbury) and James LaDell Gee.

Jan married Mark Walter Atkinson on April 20, 1981 in “The Holy City” of Medicine Park, Oklahoma. Together they shared 45 years of marriage. Jan and Mark are members of Northview Christian Church in Danville.

Jan enjoyed a successful career as a computer programmer, working for several companies throughout her lifetime. She also had a passion for cooking which inspired her to start It's All About Thyme Catering. Jan found great joy in helping people in her community, spending time with family, cooking and sharing recipes, and gathering with friends and loved ones on her deck. She loved listening to music, watching the birds, and creating lasting memories with those she cherished most.

Jan is survived by her husband, Mark Atkinson of Danville; son, Michael Myers and his wife, Cindy, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Tanya Johnson and her husband, Peter, of Los Altos, California; two granddaughters, Prudence Stowers, Zoe Myers and her partner, Cody Higa-Toma; two nephews, Brian Johnson and his wife, Eva Zepeda-Johnson, and Eric Johnson, and his wife, Toni Wei; a great-nephew, Sebastian Johnson; and a great-niece, Penelope Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 26, 2026 in Northview Christian Church, Danville, with Pastor Nathan Rector officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the service time in the church. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements.
