Jan Dannielle Laurent Bull, 83, of Danville, IN passed away on June 7, 2025. She was born April 30, 1942 to the late Harry E. and Lois (DuBose) Laurent in Leesville, LA. Jan grew up in Merryville, LA and graduated from Merryville High School in 1960. She attended McNeese State College and completed her BA in English Education. While in college, she met a handsome young airman, John Richard Bull (deceased), on a blind date. They were married on June 6, 1964. He was stationed at Grissom Air Force Base so they made their first home in an apartment between Peru and Kokomo, IN. They raised three girls in Peru, IN before moving the family to Wabash, IN. She worked as a librarian and bookdealer for rare and used books. Jan was a lifelong lover of books and reading. After moving to Murfreesboro, TN, she opened a bookstore to share her love for literature. Later she worked at Ingram Book Publishing (Ingram Content Group) until she retired.
Jan and John retired to Danville, IN where she continued to collect sell and read books. She often expressed her creativity through making jewelry. She enjoyed giving away her handcrafted bead angel charms.
Jan was a member of Mensa International, Delta Zeta Sorority and a trained Red Cross First Aid instructor.
Jan will be remembered fondly by her sister, Jean Laurent Gorman; children, Susan (Jeff) Gackenheimer, Katherine Bull, Barb (Eliza) Johnson; grandchildren, Jacob Gackenheimer, Hannah (Adrian) Coleman, Adam Gackenheimer, Caleb Crumley, Sydney Johnson, Katelin (Angel) Johnson; great grandchild, May Coleman.
Jan will be laid to rest on June 13, 2025. Viewing will be 10-11 am at Baker Funeral Home, 387 E Broadway St, Danville, IN followed immediately by the funeral service (11 am). Memorial donations can be made to Go Farther Literacy Fund (https:www.themindtrust.org/gofarther/).
