IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Louis
Switzer
September 5, 1947 – July 31, 2025
James Louis Switzer, 77, of Avon, passed away on July 31, 2025. He was born on September 5, 1947, in Crawfordsville to the late Marietta (Duke) and Donald J. Switzer. Jim graduated from Danville High School, Class of 1966, where he played varsity basketball.
Jim served his country in the United States Army and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #145 in Avon. He married the love of his life, Diana Jo Leach, on August 11, 1968, in Danville, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family.
Jim and Jo attended Plainfield Christian Church and were longtime members of the Austin Healey Club of America and the Central Indiana Austin Healey Club since 1984. Jim served the clubs in several roles over the years, including President and National Delegate. His passion for classic British cars and the friendships formed through the club were some of his greatest joys.
Jim was a tried-and-true Boilermaker who never missed a chance to cheer on Purdue and loved all things racing, especially NASCAR.
Professionally, Jim worked as a Manufacturer's Representative in the electronic security industry before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp wit, and genuine relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Diana Jo Switzer of Avon; sons, Gannon Switzer (Shari) of Fishers and Matt Switzer of Scottsdale, Arizona; brothers, Rick Switzer of Nebraska and Dave Switzer (Sandy) of New Winchester; and his three grandchildren, a source of great pride and happiness: Kylee Buchanan (Will), Abby Switzer, and Drew Switzer.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Baker Funeral Home in Danville, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm.
