James McCoy Alexander, 85 of Avon, passed away on December 18, 2022.  He was born on September 30, 1937 in Fillmore, Indiana, to the late William R. and Edna M. (McCoy) Alexander.  James was an U S Army Veteran.  He married Margaret D. Phelps on September 26, 1959 in Indianapolis.  James worked as a mechanic for Otis Elevator for over 35 years retiring in 1995.  He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Northwest Masonic Lodge.  Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marge Alexander of Avon; son, Mike Alexander (Debra) of Danville; 5 grandchildren, Michael Alexander (Ashley) of Danville, Matthew Alexander (Emily) of Brownsburg, Morgan Alexander (Billy Watkins) of Columbus, Megan Rowls (Kyle) of Greencastle, Montana Alexander of Danville; and 5 great-grandchildren, Gunnar Alexander, Raiden Alexander, Jaide Alexander, Rylee Rowls, and Alice Watkins.  Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with military rites to begin at 2:15 pm in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Danville South Cemetery.
