Dr. Herbert L. Ross, age 94, of Plainfield passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024 in his residence.  He was born on October 16, 1929 in New Canton, Illinois to the late Harry Shewe and Mabel Lennie Ward Ross.  He married Norma Carol Lierly on June 7, 1953; she survives. They were happily married for 70 years.   Herb graduated from Barry High School, received his Bachelor Degree from  Western Illinois University, and he earned his Masters at Washington University and his PHD from the University of Illinois. He was a Professor of Marketing at Indiana State University, Chairman of the Marketing Department and Dean of the School of Business before his retirement from Indiana State University  in 1995.  Herb and Norma were members of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  He was a member of Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity, President of the Terre Haute Tennis Club, and a member of several professional business organizations.  Herb cherished time spent with his family, enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, visiting his condo in Naples, FL, and had a passion for all animals, especially wolves.  He was also an avid Case knife collector. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Private family services will follow in the funeral home after visitation.  Private burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.  Survivors include his wife of 70 years Norma.  Children: Randall Lane Ross (Nancy)-Littleton, CO, Rhonda Lynette Ross McDonald (Alan)- Hillsboro, IN, and Julie Carol Ross-Siepman (Ken)- Plainfield, IN    Grandchildren: Cory Ross, Becky Ross Moore, Casey Ross, Ross McDonald, Morgan McDonald Sweet, Courtney Siepman, and Kira Siepman.  Great Grandchildren:  Jack Ross, Charlotte Ross, Hudson Ross, Everly Moore, Quinly Moore, Taylor McDonald, Jackson McDonald, Esti Sweet, and Sia Sweet.
