Helen A. Downton Dolder, age 79, passed away October 27, 2026 in Danville, Indiana. Helen was born November 12, 1946 to George and Helen (Sweeney) Downton. Helen was the 7th of nine children, having 8 brothers, George, Richard, Frank, Larry, Steve, Mark, Paul and Bill.

Helen and her husband of 59 years, Chuck, raised 3 children in Danville: Francie Dolder Helrigel (Jon), Andrew Dolder (Julie) and Edward Dolder. Helen was the proud grandmother to Michelle Taylor (Brandon), Ryan Richard, Dominic Dolder, Jenna Dolder, Lindzy Graf (Cole), Sophie Dolder, Lucas Dolder, Kendall Shipp, Chelsea Wagner (Kevin) and Connor Helrigel (Ireland). Helen was also a great grandmother to Caleb Taylor, Maeve Taylor and Archie Wagner. Helen was preceded in death by their beloved Border Collie, Lucy.

Helen retired after 30 years from the Danville Center Township Public Library, spending most of that time as the office manager. Helen was an avid reader and was a naturally talented artist and creator. Helen tolerated and even at times enjoyed her husband’s musical talents, especially his fiddle playing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with entombment to follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Danville Center Township Public Library 101 S Indiana St Danville, IN 46122 or your local library.
