Obituary of George William Cummins Junior of Danville, Indiana

Born on January 21, 1936 to George William Cummins Senior and Dorothy Cummins, both of Richmond, Indiana, George Junior passed away peacefully at his home in Danville on November 1, 2016, surrounded by wife Gail Shields Cummins, and daughters Diana Cummins Johnson (wife of Mark) and Cheryl Cummins McCullough (wife of Dale).  Known for his many hobbies, he had a love of boating, fishing, golf, photography, large model airplane construction, and shooting clay pigeons. He also was a skilled woodworker making beautiful cherry furniture of all kinds, which he gave as gifts to family and friends over the years, many of whom display these professionally made pieces in their homes today.  He was an entrepreneur, starting Graham Creek Sporting Clays Club in North Vernon, Indiana in '92. Previous to that, he served as co-owner of Cummins Implement tractor business in Danville, IN.  He retired from both businesses many years ago but customers near and far often crossed his path in later life as friends.

George attended Butler University and was a graduate of Danville High School class of 1954.  He was a 50 year master mason of Western Star Lodge no. 26 Danville, IN. He was known for his kindness, easy going manner, and acceptance of all people as friends.   In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by four grandchildren--D.J. and Ben McCullough, both of Danville and Dr. Andrew Johnson and Morgan Johnson of Washington State and Arizona, respectively.   He also adored his great-grandchildren Molli and Makenna McCullough.   His only sibling, Sharon Cummins Thuma, his younger sister whom he also adored, also survives George.

Services will be held at a later date with information to be shared at www.BakerFuneralService.com.  His spirit now rests in peace in the afterlife as family and friends will always remember him and his kind ways toward all who knew him.
