Obituary

George Everett Ballentine, Jr., 97 of Danville, passed away August 12, 2017 in Hendricks Regional Health.  Born January 13, 1920 at home near East Smithfield, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Nelle Lampman and George E. Ballentine, Sr.  He married Phyllis Coffman on January 09, 1944 in Sullivan, IN. and she survives.  Mr. Ballentine was an U. S. Army Air Corp veteran, a member of Indiana Forestry and Woodland Owners and the Western Star Lodge #26 F & AM.  He worked for Allison Transmission, Division of GM, for 40 years starting as a mechanic and retiring as a mechanical engineer in August of 1982.  Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ballentine of Danville; sons, Wayne E. (Jane) Ballentine of Fort Wayne, Scott W. (Vicki) Ballentine of Jamestown; 4 grandsons and 6 great grandchildren.  His parents and a sister, Harriet Ascough McKenzie, preceded him in death.  Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Danville United Methodist Church, in which he was a member, with burial to follow in Danville South Cemetery.  Calling will be from 10:00 am until the service time in the church.  Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Danville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 820 W Mill St Danville, IN  46122.
