Obituary

Ella Mae Schmittou, 93 of Avon, passed away on September 17, 2022.  She was born on September 22, 1928 in Roseville, Michigan, to the late William and Antoinette (Neuman) Moore.  Ella married John Dewey Schmittou in May of 1948 in Dickson, Tennessee.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed basket-weaving, sewing, cooking, and gardening.  She also worked for the school system in the cafeteria and as a teacher's aide for 15 years, retiring in 2005.  Ella was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Danville.  Survivors include her sons, Kenneth D. Schmittou (Carol) of Clayton, Keith Schmittou (Chris Ann) of South Lyon, MI., Lawrence Schmittou (April) of Silverwood, MI.; daughters, Rosalie Smithmier of Phoenix, AZ., Linda Blumberg of Toledo, OH., 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Miriam.  Her parents; husband; son, John Schmittou; siblings, Ruth, Johnny, Wesley, William, Naomi, Melvin, Ralph; and half-siblings Charles, Delbert and Mabel, preceded her in death.  Services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Faith Baptist Church in Danville.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time in the church.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the South Lyon Cemetery in South Lyon, Michigan.  Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.
