Elinor Hatcher, 87 of New Winchester, passed away February 2, 2017 in her home. Born July 1, 1929 in Nome, Alaska, she was the daughter of Walter John and Helen Burnell Dowd. She married James Hatcher, Sr. on January 9, 1950 in Seattle. Washington. Elinor was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danville. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in various offices in the past, such as the President of the New Winchester Chapter, 6th District President and State Chief of Staff. She also held a life membership in the Amvets Auxiliary and was a member of the Danville American Legion Post #118 Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Sue (Ken) Ottinger, Jean (Charlie) Thurnall, all of New Winchester, Kathy (Dan) Wethington of Ladoga, Jim (Jenny) Hatcher, Jr., of New Winchester, Mari (Mike) Clark of Danville; and 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister, preceded her in death. Calling will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2017 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville. Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the funeral home with burial to follow in New Winchester Cemetery.
