Eleonore W. Bische, 86, of Plainfield, passed away on March 21, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1938, in Regensburg, Germany, to the late Marie (Schmid) and Leonhard Weber. Known as "Ellie" to her friends and family, she immigrated to the United States aboard the USS United States in 1959. Eleonore married Charles Frank Bische on June 27, 1964, at St. Michael's Church in Indianapolis. She proudly became a U.S. citizen on April 24, 1973.
A skilled tailor, Eleonore worked from her home in Speedway, Indiana, crafting and altering countless garments throughout her life. In addition to serving her clients, she created suits, prom dresses, full bridal party attire, and wedding gowns for family and friends.
Eleonore had a passion for dancing and was an avid racing enthusiast. She enjoyed watching Indy Car and NASCAR races, often hosting lively race parties during her years in Speedway. In her early twenties, she worked as a Trophy Girl at Kitley Speedway in Indianapolis. She also served as a sheriff for the polls in Speedway on election days for many years. A breast cancer survivor and dedicated philanthropist, Eleonore generously supported numerous causes, particularly those benefiting children in need. She was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield and a former member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Bische of Plainfield; children, Angie Humpert of Plainfield, Ray Bische (Charlene) of Brownsburg, and Melissa Sowers (Tim) of Plainfield; brother, Hermann Weber (Monica) of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Charlotte Strong, Aloisia Brundl, Sigmund Weber, Manfred Weber, Charlotte Weber, Walter Weber, Hermine Weber, and Richard Weber.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the mass. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Indianapolis.
