Earl R. "Buddy" Yates, 84 of Danville, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021.  He was born on November 24, 1936 in Russellville, Kentucky, to the late McKinley and Elizabeth (McPhail) Yates.  Earl served 4 years in the United States Air Force prior to meeting the love of his life, Georgia E. Kidd.  They wed on July 24, 1961 in Indianapolis.  In 1978, they moved to Danville to raise their family and enjoy a simple life.  He retired from GM Truck and Bus, Indianapolis, in 1998 after 34 years.  Earl was a gentle soul who always had a smile and kind word for others.  He will forever be cherished and remembered by his loving wife of 60 years, Georgia Yates; children, Brian (Brenda), Calvin (Jennifer); grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Kayla (Evan), Waylon (Marissa); and one great grandson, Raiden.  Earl will be missed by his sisters, Lucy, Edith, Doris (Larry), Connie (Larry), as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Harold; and sisters, Dottie, Lottie and Jane.  Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with military rites and burial to follow in the Clayton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service time in the funeral home.
