Obituary

Douglas McArthur "Mac" Stinnett, 81 of Plainfield, entered God's kingdom on December 08, 2023, while at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 03, 1942 in Acme, West Virginia, to the late Annie Eliza (Bryant) and William Lee Stinnett. He grew up in Acme, West Virginia. He was an U. S. Army veteran.  Mac married Patricia Ann Ferrell on July 11, 1963 in Belle, WV.  He was a supervisor for Reilly Industries for almost 30 years before retiring.  He then was a steam plant operator for the State of Indiana for 19 years. Mac was a selfless man whose passing has left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones.  His ability to sacrifice, provide support, forgive, and love will be forever ingrained in all who knew him.  Mac and his wife are members of Souls Harbor Assembly of God in Plainfield.  The most important thing to him was his faith and his family . He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His eyes would light up when he saw them.  He shared his love of southern gospel music by playing guitar, singing, and preaching whenever he could.  He really enjoyed sharing the gospel at nursing homes and with children.  He loved to make people laugh and to tell jokes. He always said laughter was the best medicine besides Jesus.  Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Pat Stinnett of Plainfield; daughters, Patsy Myers (Charlie) of Mooresville, Susan Sword of Plainfield; brother, William D. Stinnett (Donna) of Plainfield; sister, Barbara Hatfield of Myrtle Beach, SC.; 4 grandchildren, Jake Sword (Samantha), Sarah Fischer (Aaron), Amber McIntyre, Seth McIntyre (Josie); and 5 great grandchildren, Addison, Noah, Conner, Kinley and Preslee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters; Funeral services will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.  Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the service time in the funeral home.
