Dolly Hilligoss, 87 of Plainfield, passed away on July 6, 2023.  She was born on February 19, 1936 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Maynard E. and Frances (Barron) Robertson.  After graduating from high school, Dolly attended University of North Texas and then transferred to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.  She married Thomas Franklin Hilligoss on February 18, 1956 in Texas.  Dolly was a homemaker and a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the C M Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Delta Alpha Gamma-Gamma Chapter, in which she formerly served as "Woman of the Year".  She helped form the first grief support group in Hendricks County and also taught Bible School classes in the summer.  Dolly was a receptionist for the State Legislature for over 10 years, worked for Projected Sound in Plainfield, and was an assistant chaplain for Hendricks Regional Health for 8 years.  She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, obtained her private pilot's license, and enjoyed snow skiing.  Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Tom Hilligoss; daughters, Frances St. Laurent (Paul), Sara Homeier, all of Plainfield; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Franklin Hilligoss, Jr.; sisters, Betty Robinson, Robin Robertson; and brother, Maynard E. Robertson.  A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Plainfield United Methodist Church with inurnment to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time in the church.  Contributions may be made to Plainfield United Methodist Church 600 Simmons St Plainfield, IN 46168.  Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.
