Dean Boyd Brandt, 80 of Plainfield, passed away on September 13, 2026. He was born on January 02, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late Arling (Heacox) and Herman C. Brandt, Sr. Dean was an U. S. Air Force veteran. He married Bonnie Kay (VanBuskirk) Jennings on July 29, 1995 in Indianapolis.

Dean worked as a truck driver for many years at U S F Holland retiring in 2008. Previously he was a public servant and served as a deputy for both Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. He was also a police officer for the Lebanon City Police Department and served as Fire Chief for the Lebanon Fire Department,as well. In his spare time, Dean was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time on the water.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Bonnie Kay Brandt of Plainfield; children, Derek Boyd Brandt (Debbie) of Lebanon, Julie Jennings of Florida, JoAnne Jennings of Whiteland, John C. Jennings of Spencer; siblings, David Brandt (Jan) of Carmel, Betty Franklin of Clarksville, TN.; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Dean Brandt; brothers, Herman C. Brandt, Jr., Richard W. “Dick” Brandt, Charles R. “Chuck” Brandt; and sister, Mary Katherine Summers.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 03, 2026 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with military honors to follow. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time in the funeral home.
