Obituary

David L. Stamper, 80 of Coatesville, passed away on June 17, 2022 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.  He was born on May 10, 1942 in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Lawrence and Ruth Sehloman Stamper.  David married the love of his life Janet Brown on February 13, 1965 in Indianapolis.  He is a veteran of the US Army and a life-long farmer.  David worked at FMC in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1997 from the industrial engineering department. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed the farm, camping, and riding BMW motorcycles even adventuring to Alaska on motorcycle.  But his real passion was barbecuing and sharing his cooking expertise with others. He was a proud member of the Kansas City Barbecue Society winning many awards including winning 3rd place at the prestigious Jack Daniel's World Championship invitational BBQ in 2006. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janet Stamper of Coatesville; daughters, Sherry Simmons (JP) of Carmel, Pamela Cannon (Brant) of Apex, NC; brother, Steve Stamper (Kathy) of Coatesville; sister, Jane Rapp of Indianapolis; 2 grandchildren, Madison and Mia Simmons, both of Carmel.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  A private graveside service will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
