Darleen Himmelheber, age 91, of Plainfield passed away on November 26, 2024.  She was born on October, 15, 1933 in Spencer County, Indiana to Lawrence and Zelpha Oskins Meece.  She married John W. "Bill" Himmelheber in November 1951; he preceded her in death in 2019.  Darleen was the manager of the land acquisition for the State of Indiana Transportation Department for 20+ years before her retirement. She was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  Darleen and Bill were very active members of the German American Club of Central Indiana and the German American Folk Dancing Group for over 30 years traveling to Germany with the group for two trips.  Visitation will held on Tuesday December 3, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Funeral services will follow the visitation starting at 7 p.m.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. (CST) in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville, Indiana. Survivors include her children: Galen Himmelheber, Darla Smiley both of Plainfield and John D. Himmelheber of New York City, NY.  Sister: Ileen Mechana of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
