Carmella M. Hume, 69 of Danville, passed away on February 10, 2025. She was born on October 30, 1955 in Covington, Kentucky, to Rita (Eickhoff) and Don Hallau. She graduated from Holmes High School in 1973. Carmella married Richard E. Hume on April 13, 1974 in Elizabethtown, Ohio. She did many things in life from being a bank teller, teacher's aide for children with special needs, owning a bakery and even driving a school bus! Her favorite career was as a flight attendant/flight supervisor for Comair in Cincinnati, OH for several years. Carmella enjoyed traveling, going to the ocean, working crossword puzzles, writing and she was an avid reader. She cherished her role as Nana the most to her 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She also loved to give gifts constantly. While her memory was fading toward the end, her family cherishes all the great memories made with her over the years. She was a lover of her Lord and Savior Jesus, sweet tea, was always on the hunt for a good bargain, and never met a stranger! Survivors include her husband, Rick Hume of Danville; children, Jason Hume (Nicole) of Lafayette, Angela Pickel (Aaron) of Danville; siblings, Darrell Hallau of Kentucky, Margie Wheeler of Ohio, Mary Lou Travis of Florida, Roger Hallau of Ohio, Gregory Hallau (Charlene) of Kentucky, Kevin Hallau (Marcy) of Texas; grandchildren, Elly Tuinstra (Caden), Josie Cain (Tristan), Winnie Nguyen (Gavyn Davis), Nathan Pickel (Samantha), Matthew Pickel; and great grandchild, Julia and one on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her best friend for many years, Betty Johnson of Georgia. Her parents, and 4 infant siblings, preceded her in death.
Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. There will be no services at this time.
