Beatrice Barbara Bekman, 79, of Avon, Indiana passed away on January 14, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1945 in Queens, New York, to the late Florence (Everitt) and Walter Suttmeier. She graduated with an Associate Degree from Averett University in Danville, Virginia. Beatrice married Henry John "Hank" Bekman on August 10, 1980 in Bay Shore, New York. Bea started her career working for the Long Island Light Company. Once she had children, Bea was a dedicated homemaker. She transitioned over to Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach, Florida, sharing her tremendous love caring for the children in their Wee Care (preschool) center. She was an avid crafter and sewer, and enjoyed spending her free time making things for family, friends and the community through local festivals. She also had a profound love for both cooking and reading. Bea was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Hank Bekman; 2 children, William Timothy Hogan (Michelle), Sandra Lynn Viau (Nathaniel), both of St. Augustine, Florida; brother, Richard Suttmeier (Linda); 4 grandchildren, Serena Viau, Davin Viau, Justin Hogan, and Lauren Hogan. Her parents and brother, George Suttmeier, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 5635 W. 96th Street Suite 100 Indianapolis, Indiana 46278. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements.
