Today we say goodbye, until we see you again, to our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle, marine, and most importantly, friend. Travis Brayden “Gunnar” Shirven passed away at his home on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Gunnar, born on January 17, 1996, is the son of Kari Alting, and Rick and Shannon Shirven. He graduated from Danville High School in 2014 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 2014-2017. He was currently employed at GCC Steel.
We’ve lost the light, the spirit, and the laughter of our family; we can never be the same. There was never a dull moment when he was in the room. Gunnar was always warm, kind, and generous. He may no longer be here with us on earth, but he will always stay in our hearts. While we are left here on earth with so many unanswered questions, one thing we know for certain: the world is forever less bright, less joyful, and filled with less laughter without him in it.
A celebration of Gunnar’s life will be held at the American Legion Avon Post at 4812 E Main St. Avon, IN 46123 on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 5:00 pm. Dinner and beverages will be served immediately after. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Soldiers Project, a charity dedicated to the mental health services for any veteran who has served. thesoldiersproject.org
One more hug, one more conversation, one more joke from you. We want nothing more. We love you so much Gunnar, we could never tell you enough.
