Shirley A. Jennison, 89 of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with family by her side October 3, 2019. She was born August 24, 1930 in Winona, Minnesota, to the late Gilmore and Bessie Thompson Mason. Shirley was a loving wife to Raymond Jennison for 33 years and a devoted mother to 5 children – Ronald Jennison, Christine Vinson, Tom Jennison (deceased), Mary Toole and Timothy Jennison. Family was central to Shirley’s life and she was a proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Richard Mason. In addition to her family, Shirley prioritized her Catholic faith as part of her daily life.
Professionally, Shirley worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 15 years, retiring as a benefits coordinator. Throughout much of her adult life, she sang in the church choir, was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed several card groups. Shirley loved to dance and was most often thought of as the life of the party. Always with a grateful heart and smile, her sweet soul will be dearly missed.
Mass will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2019 in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis, with burial to follow. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until noon in the chapel.
