Obituary

Sherman R. Spears, 84 of Indianapolis, passed away July 2, 2018 in his home.  Sherman was born May 2, 1934 in Peytonsburg, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Nora (Groce) Spears.

 

Sherman worked at TransCon and also for 20 Years with Berger Hargis Landscape Management.  He was an United States Army veteran.  Sherman was a member of the Free Spirit Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #669, where he received his 50 year membership pin.

 

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Mearl Spears. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Brake Spears; children, Kimberly (Kevin) Wilson, Dwayne (Jennifer) Hargis, Veronica (Bill) Salsbery and Chris (Trina) Hargis; sisters, Buna Spring and Betty Sharp; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

 

Services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service in the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the Masonic Lodge #669 P O Box 753 Mooresville, IN 46158.
