Sharon Fay Gerber, 72, of Danville passed away June 10, 2019 at the Village of Avon. Born August 04, 1946 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late John and Ione (Moser) DeHaan. Sharon married Ernie Gerber on June 01, 1968 in Minnesota. She attended Sioux Falls College in South Dakota and began her career teaching German, English, and Drama at Magnolia High School in Minnesota. After all her children were born, Sharon returned to teaching at Westlake Preschool in Indianapolis.
Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren and babies. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing and crafting, as well as gardening, cake decorating, and decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ernie; her children Timothy Gerber, Thomas Gerber, Wendy Blakley, Michele Shearin, Angela Gouge, Ginger Howell, Benjamin Gerber, and Jonathan Gerber; sisters Susan VanDerWolde and Shirlee DeHaan; brother Tim DeHaan and 26 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2019 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in Danville South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service in the funeral home. A memorial service will also be held at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa on a date and time yet to be determined.
