Sandra Sue VanNice went home to be with our Lord on November 12, 2018. She was born in Greencastle, Indiana on March 16, 1943. She graduated from Amo High School and received her teaching degree from Indiana State University and her Master’s degree from Indiana University. Sandi was a dedicated teacher for 40 years and spent most of her career teaching kindergarten in Plainfield Schools, retiring in 2005. Former students often told her they had fond memories of her getting them started in their first year of school. She was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church where she served in many positions. Sandi was program director for the Weekday Religious Education Program at Mill Creek East and was a member of Hendricks County Retired Teachers Association. She and her husband, William A. VanNice recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Christine (Rhea) Wise. She is survived by her husband, Bill; a brother, Paul S. Wise (Brenda) of Danville, and a sister, Ella Walton (Ted) of Mooresville. She will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in the Danville South Cemetery. Calling will be from 12:30 pm until the service time in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Baptist Church P. O. Box 80 Clayton, IN 46118.
