Ruth Eleanor (Ault) Hadley, 90, passed away peaceably surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 18, 2018.
Ruth was born July 3, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York; the youngest of four children. She earned her master’s degree in Christian Education from Western College before moving to New Orleans to teach. There, Ruth met David, a medical student, while attending a church function. Ruth and David married on October 23, 1954. The couple lived and worked in South Carolina, Tennessee, Kenya, and Ohio before settling in Plainfield, Indiana.
Ruth served as Pastor of Walnut Chapel for two decades while also managing the office for David’s Family Medicine practice. She was very active in the Religious Society of Friends, volunteered for medical and hospital programs, and avidly practiced painting and needlepoint. She and David enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren; attending family get-togethers, sports and theatre events.
Ruth was preceded in death by her spouse, David Hadley, in 2015. She is survived by her son, John Hadley; daughter, Mary Jane (Hadley) Evers; and grandchildren, Candice and Garrett Evers.
A Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 8th at 1:30 p.m.,Plainfield Friends Church 105 S. East St, in Plainfield, IN. Arrangements can be found at Hall-Baker Funeral Home and Online condolences may be shared at www.bakerfuneralservice.com.
