So sorry for your loss. I attended Central Ave UMC when Bob was pastor there. In 1988 He married my then husband and I. He is remembered at Plainfield UMC. So sad to hear the news.

I had tremendous respect for Bob and his love for and Ministry to the African people. We enjoyed a lot of basketball together at Central Avenue back in the day of the old fat preachers basketball league. He was a faithful example in so many ways. He is missed and grieved.

Sorry to just hear of Bob's passing. I had worked with him at Central Avenue, annual conference and elsewhere. My wife was a former missionary in Zaire and we all had many conversations reflecting on the changes there. He will be missed.

To The Walters family! Thinking of you all during this incredibly shocking and sad time! Wow! May Bob's spirit and the peace and love of God bring you comfort! Please know that we love you guys dearly and that Heaven definitely welcomes another angel into everlasting life with God. Bob will continue his journey in Heaven, but we will have gentle reminders of him on Earth to guide us through this life until we all get to Heaven. He loves his family and friends dearly. Everything happens in God's time instead of ours. Know that we can talk anytime!

Teri, Dan and I were greatly saddened to Bob's passing. We feel blessed to have met you and Bob and share all of the MG trips that we were able to take. So many memories and laughs. You two are still the famous pair of the Lancaster PA, "no turn on red incident." It always make me smile when I think of Bob trying to reason with the officer about "why in the world a traffic light would be at a round-about". The Chicago Land MG group never lets me forget the story! Prayers of peace to you and your family. Please call on us for anything you need.

I know Bob best from his Academy days. As a Company classmate, he was a good friend to all, a quality midshipman. You knew he would do well as a Marine officer and beyond. He and I both left the military later to respond to the call of God to the ministry. I am proud of his faithful service to God and those he cared for. I am sure he has heard words of God's pleasure upon his arrival in heaven.

RIP Reverend Bob! Enjoyed getting to know you while you served at Centenary. By know you're probably telling your duck story to the big man upstairs!

I was a high school friend and classmate of Bob's. I am so saddened by his sudden passing, and my heart goes out to all his loved ones and the many people whose lives he has touched.
I deeply regret that we did not stay in touch over the years; the loss is mine. I am blessed to have known him.

Oh, how I love the photo selected for Bob's official funeral page! Can you see the "amusement" in his eyes....his smile? What a guy. Not much shook him up.....he seemed almost "indestructible" when it came to what might rattle the rest of us. When we carried our burdens and concerns to him, he was calm, reassuring, and steadfast. What seemed insurmountable to us, was met with his quiet calm and loving faith. Regardless of *where* he served....he will not be forgotten.

I knew Bob (slightly) at USNA and TBS, and saw him a time or two after that. I say 'slightly' because as all would attest, he made a greater impression by his humility, kindness, and gentleness of spirit, than most Midshipmen and Marines one would ever come across. And yes, he had a Godliness about him. He was imbued with the Holy Spirit, and yet was quiet, not boastful about his obvious closeness to the Lord. Sympathies to the Walters family. You - and all of us - will be reunited again soon in the Gardens of Our Savior, where Bob walks in bliss today.

I relied on Bob's wisdom in my work in Kinshasa, Kindu, and Mwanza (Tanzania), as well as as a pastor and denominational leader. He was one of my go to people for debriefing and guidance.

More than this, he was friendly, hospitable, caring, and humble. The combination of such wisdom, such indomitable physical endurance, and such gentleness is something I have found in no one else I have known.

His memory is already, and will long be, a blessing.

What a wonderful picture you have used for this page! Bob caught in a moment of reflection.

Bob was the consummate host when I visited Indiana for UMVIM and a perfect team member who supplied some comic relief on occasion when on our mission to Cambodia ( eating fried spiders!). He helped reinforce and form my theory and practice of Servant mission in our world. Thank you, Bob.

Like so many, I am shocked and saddened by Bob's sudden death. Like him, I too have a deep love for the church in Africa. I treasure who he was and the example he set in so many great and small ways. Well done, good and faithful servant! I pray God's comfort for his family and his many friends in Indiana, the Congo and beyond.

Teri and Family,
LouAnn was in touch with me this week and told me about Bob's sudden passing. I was so happy to have met you and Bob at several MG car club events in the USA over many years. He was a special man and of course I automatically warmed up to Bob knowing he was a pastor and my late father had been a pastor also. He had a kind heart, good sense of humour, and I always laughed when we called him "preacher man". Teri, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. God Bless, Mary Attwell

My heart goes out to you at this time. Celebrating the person Bob was, the faith he lived, and the love he shared. He was one of the great leaders of our conference and of the United Methodist Church. Grieving for the life that ended too soon. My sympathies go out to you and pray Gods arms will bring you comfort and strength. Peace be with you.

Sending our love to the Walters family. Bob was out family paster . We had just joined Sunrise UMC. Bob and family came to bring healing and peace to our little Turtle Church. He had a tremendous influence on our older son's future. He came to Riley Hospital when our Paul was so ill. He inspired our congregation to send bikes to Africa. His heart was always reaching to new missions across the water. I am so thankful that he and his family came to lead our little Oaklandon Church.
