NIta Joy Thompson

Nita Joy Thompson, 61, of Greenwood passed from this life to heavenly peace on April 20, 2018, following a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Born on April 21, 1956, Joy was the daughter of Herman and Frances (Bateman) Thompson. Her parents and one sister, Bobby Ann Thompson, preceded her in death. Survivors include her two children, Eric (Christal) Jackson of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Erin (Matt) Marino of Indianapolis, four grandchildren, McKay Jackson of Slaton, Texas, Torin and Kyson Jackson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Greyson Marino of Indianapolis, and one sister, Elona (Jerry) Kirkland of Avon.

Joy was a member of Blue River Baptist Church and an animal rescue activist. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, crafting Christmas ornaments, reading, writing, spending time with her loving family, and hanging out with her dog and constant companion, Lucy. Joy's spirit for living was unmatched and her love for her family was immense. She will be greatly missed.
