Joseph Frederick Keers, 84 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 3, 2019 at his daughter’s home Julie (Mike) in Pittsboro. Born February 13, 1935 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Frederick and Elizabeth (Breen) Keers. He married Barbara Ann Zore on May 2, 1959 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Indianapolis, and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2018. Joseph graduated from Cathedral High School and Marian College, both in Indianapolis. He worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Dow Chemical Company for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed playing golf, travelling abroad, camping with his children and grandchildren and monitoring the stock market daily. Joseph was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church and a former member of St. Malachy Catholic Church. He is an U. S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his children, Lisa (Dan) Hession of Brownsburg, Laura (Dave) Moore of Avon, Julie (Mike) Carr of Pittsboro, J. T. (Nan) Keers of Pittsboro, Chris (Kim) Keers of Pittsboro, Dan (Kim) Keers of Lizton, Denise (Richard) Newkirk of Brownsburg; siblings, Ann Keers of Brownsburg, Catherine “Kitty” Shinkle of Wisconsin, Mary Elandt of Arizona, Stephen (Connie) Keers of Indianapolis; 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His parents, wife, Barbara Ann Keers and siblings, Michael Keers, Fred Keers and Frances McAvoy, and son-in-law, David Moore preceded him in death.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2019 and also one hour prior to the service, both will be at St. Susanna Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Susanna Catholic Church 1210 E. Main St. Plainfield, IN 46168 or to the donor’s favorite charity also may do a blood donation in memory.
