Howard J Cahall, 89, Plainfield, IN, passed away on July 6, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on September 22, 1928, in Jasonville, IN, to John and Caroline Cahall, and was the youngest of six siblings, all deceased. He lost the love of his life, Helen Sears Cahall, in 1998. He was a gentleman with quiet strength and integrity and was kind to all. Slow to anger and abounding in love, he followed Christ closely and shared generously with those that did His work. He had the best sense of humor and was the master of "one liners."
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University shortly thereafter. After graduation, Howard became a data processing supervisor at Allison’s (General Motors), which later became EDS, and retired in 1992. He was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church where he had served as assistant treasurer, an elder, and deacon. Howard enjoyed sports, in person or on TV, and loved to play golf. He also loved to watch old westerns and war movies. His survivors include his children Susan Christian (Perry); Gregory Cahall (Barbara), and Jennifer Beliles (David). His daughter, Debra Scott, predeceased him. He was a loving papaw to his ten grandchildren (Andy, Jarrod, David, Whitney, Candace, Daniel, Jessica, Callie, Katie, and Corey), and eight great grandchildren (Sydney, Grayson, Zeke, Tatum, James, Naomi, Charis, and Titus).
Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday July 18, 2018, at Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, IN, with visitation from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
