Helen L. Disney, 94, of Danville passed away January 21, 2018. She was born January 5, 1924 in Boone County and was the third of nine children born to the late Russell and Delia (Dugan) Wiley.
She was employed by Danville Community School Corporation for 40 years, serving as Cafeteria Manager for most of that time. She loved to cook for family, friends and students and was famous for her cinnamon rolls, cookies, peanut butter squares, chili and buffet dinners.
Helen was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Her vegetable garden was large enough to supply her family and friends with produce every summer. She also enjoyed attending various activities of her family.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Survivors include her children Jim (Helen) Disney, Rose Ellen (John) Moore, Theresa (Jack) Lynch, Sharon (Jim) Woodrum, all of Danville, grandchildren Angela (Larry) Taylor of Granger, Indiana, Brian (Tracy) Disney of Plainfield, Wm. Andrew Lynch of Danville, John J (Dawn) Moore of Indianapolis, Chris (Juli) Woodrum of Pittsboro, Theresa (Jeremy) Gibbs of Pittsboro, Bridget (Rob) Merrion of Roachdale , April (Craig) Bohbrink of Pittsboro, Michael (Lindsey) Lynch of Danville, David (Elizabeth) Moore of Danville, 20 great grandchildren and brother John Wiley of Brownsburg.
Helen was a member of St. Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Russell Jr. and Jim, sisters, Rosemary Smith, Jane Hession, Regina Watson, Betty Forhreich, and Marita Landis.
Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in Danville Monday, January 29th from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville Tuesday, January 30th at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Malachy Cemetery in Brownsburg.
