Obituary

Grace Irene (Bardell) Haley-Hawkins, 64, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away on August 26, 2018 at 8:06 a.m. at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, after a valiant fight with a terminal illness. Grace was born August 20, 1954, to George and Alberta Bardell in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Grace married Robert Hawkins in 1999.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Jeff) Pierce (Plainfield, IN); grandchildren Bryan Brock (Mooresville, IN), Makayla (Timothy) Tomey (Greenwood, IN), Sarah Bergner, Karras Pierce, Kale Pierce, Jayden Pierce, Krayton Pierce, Kashton Pierce, and Lux Pierce (all of Plainfield, IN); great-grandson Asher Tomey; and siblings George Bardell, Jr. (Georgetown, IL), Lisa Bardell (Pinellas Park, FL), Clarence (Jutta) Bardell (Indianapolis, IN), and Ruth (Timothy) Smith (Alto Pass, IL).

Grace graduated from Georgetown High School, Georgetown, Illinois, in 1972. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPUI) in 1979.  She worked in the healthcare field for 39 years, owning her own home health agency for part of that time. She was most recently employed as a telephonic oncology counselor.

Grace enjoyed working with her Walker Coon dogs and Tennessee Walking horses and creating quilts and many other craft items.
