Dorothy A. (Buer) Johnson

Dorothy A. Johnson, 87 of Greenwood, went home to be with her Savior on June 6, 2019.  Dorothy was born Feb. 8, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the third and youngest child of William and Martha Buer.  She married Wayne C. Johnson of Essex, IA, and they celebrated 53 wedding anniversaries before his death in June of 2008.  They raised their five children in Crystal Lake, IL, Columbia City, IN, and Maryville TN, and she worked intermittently as a registered nurse in each of those hometowns.  During their retirement years, Dorothy and Wayne enjoyed serving in various capacities in their churches, traveling to Europe and Israel, and camping across the U.S., including an extended trip to Alaska.  

  She is survived by her 3 sons and 2 daughters:  David W. Johnson of Caldwell, ID; Daniel W. Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; Donald P. Johnson of Danville, IN; Darlene R. Johnson of Nagoya, Japan; and Deanne M. Holcombe of Clayton, NC.  She was the beloved grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 6. 

  A funeral service will be held at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield on Saturday, June 22 at 11:30 am, with visitation starting 1 hour before.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ministry fund of Darlene R. Johnson at Mission to the World (www.mtw.org, acct. #13616).
