Catherine Louise (Miller) Cole

January 5, 1923 ~ October 28, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old


Beloved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Catherine “Louise” (Miller) Cole, age
94,of Plainfield passed away on October 28th, 2017 at the Hendricks Regional Health.  She was preceded in death by her father Dewey Miller and mother Velma Miller, husband James M. Cole, brother Denzil Miller, sister-in-law Josie Miller and sister-in-law MaryRose Miller.  She is survived by her brother, William Miller, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and David Sinders and many nieces and nephews.  Louise was the matriarch of the Miller family and will be greatly missed.
Louise Miller was born in Clay County on January 5th, 1923.  She attended CoalMont High School and graduated from Bradley University in 1960.  She majored in Home Economics Education.
During World War II, Louise served in the WAVES which was a branch of the United States Navy.  Her husband also served in the Navy and was on active duty.  Louise met her husband while they both worked at the Naval Torpedo Station.  They were married  on June 1st, 1945 and they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. 
Louise, worked at the Department of Agriculture in the Bureau of Human Nutrition and Home Economics  and taught several years of Home Economics in the Arlington, Virginia school system. After retiring she started her own custom pattern business and was a sought after business woman in the Washington DC area. 
Louise and her husband lived in Annandale, Virginia for over sixty years before retiring to their home in Plainfield, Indiana.  Louise and her husband took many trips to Europe.  She especially loved Paris and took cooking classes at  Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School.  She was a member of the National Herb Society. 
Visitation at the Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield, Indiana on Friday, November 3rd from 10 am to 12 noon.  Funeral at noon.  Burial will be in Beech Cemetery in Clay City, Indiana.
