Walter Harold Hess, 91 of Danville, passed away March 22, 2018. He was born November 10, 1926 in Hebron, Nebraska to the late Ernest and Phoebe Dean Hess. He graduated from Scipio High School in 1945. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany. Walter worked for 42 years for Allison’s Gas Turbine, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.
Walter married Martha Grove on May 6, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by 3 sons, Richard and Kristy Hess of Spokane, WA., David and Jan Hess of Danville, James and Sharon Hess of Warren, MI.; grandchildren, Jason and Joanna Hess, Katie and Jacob Bridwell, Andrea and Shaun Miller, Monica and David Cripe, David and Alex Hess, Jonathan Hess, Andrew and Rachel Ann Hess, Rachel Hess, Matthew Hess, Rebecca Hess and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jeffrey Hess on November 6, 2001; brother, Fredrick Hess; sisters, Edna Hess, Betty Denny; 3 half-brothers, Edward, Sylvester and Arthur Smith; 3 half-sisters, Sylvia Pinnell, Irene Steinker and Iva Volland.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, North Salem. Calling will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
