Timothy James Cooney

November 28, 1947 ~ September 15, 2016 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Timothy James Cooney, 68 of Avon, passed away September 15, 2016.  Born November 28, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio, he was the son of Michael E. and Margaret Jean Digan Cooney.  He married Joann Heeg, his high school sweetheart, on December 19, 1970.  They were married 45 wonderful years and have 4 children, Patrick (Amy), Michael (Courtney), Stephen (Kristen), and Matthew (Lisa) Cooney.  Tim was the proud and doting grandfather of 12 grandchildren, Riley, Connor, Jack, Nolan, Maddie, Carter, Sam, A.J., Kaitlyn, Charlie, James and Bennett.  He is also survived by brothers, Tom (Terri) Cooney, Terry (Deborah) Cooney; sister, Michelle (Mike) Valentine.  His parents, brother, Michael and cousins, Mary Ellen Ross and Patty Snell, preceded him in death.

Tim entered the Army after High School and served his country in Vietnam for 14 months.  He then attended Wright State University and transferred to I U P U I to obtain his bachelor’s degree and later on his master’s degree.  During school he worked for International Harvester and continued for 42 years, retiring in 2008 as the Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing.  He kept busy with golfing, Notre Dame football, running, and proudly supporting/photographing his grandkids at all their sporting events.  Tim served as Commander of the Heritage Palms Veteran’s Association in Florida.  He was also a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, with entombment to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Plainfield.  Calling will be from 3:00-8:00 pm on Monday, September 19, 2016 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Donations may be made to the Heritage Palms Veteran’s Association who are raising funds for a service dog.  The address is 10420 Washington Palm Way Ft.
