Nicolette Ann (Markos) Visker, 80 of Heritage Lake and Danville, passed away February 27, 2018. She was born July 3, 1937 in Battle Creek Michigan to the late Nicholas and Rosemond (Drew) Markos. She was a graduate of the 1955 Class of Battle Creek Central. She married the love of her life, Johannas A. Visker on February 15, 1957 in Hastings, Michigan. They moved to Danville in 1959 and she worked at Indianapolis Morris Plan. She retired in 2000 from Brenton and Brenton Attorneys after 20 years as a legal receptionist and bookkeeper. Nicky was a member of Whitestone Christian Church in Coatesville. She was a past member of Phi Beta Psi, where in 1964 she was named Woman of the Year for her philanthropic work regarding cancer research. Later she became a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Alpha Rho Chapter in Danville.
Nicky loved family life and was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her friends were very important to her. She loved to shop, go on cruises, photography and bird watching, especially humming birds. Nicky and Joe enjoyed watching Nascar and football together. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her very favorite times were Christmas and Easter, where she would gather her family around her.
Survivors include her beloved husband and best friend of 61 years, Joe Visker; sons, Jamie (Atlanta) Visker, Todd Visker; daughters, Jodie (Gene) Rothgerber, Jennifer (Ron) Cheatham; her nine grand-darlings, who became the spirit of her heart, Tara and Nicklaus Visker, Christa, Shelby, Elizabeth, Luke and Caleb Cheatham, Xander and Riley Visker; brothers, Chris, Henry and Drew Markos; sisters, Marcia Yaw, Becky Warren; nephews and nieces of both Michigan and Minnesota. Preceding her in death are her parents; sisters, Zara Markos, Effie Thiede; brothers, Jamie Markos, Ronnie Markos and a half-sister, Evelyn Alexander.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in the Whitestone Christian Church with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, March 5, 2018 in the church and also one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Whitestone Christian Church 8045 W U S Hwy 36 Coatesville, IN 46121. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of the arrangements.
