Mary Irene Vatter, 72 of Plainfield, passed away January 29, 2018. Born January 09, 1946 in Williamson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Perry Nimrod and Kizzie Clark Workman. She married David Nicholas Vatter and he preceded her in death. Irene worked at Peerless Pump for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. She enjoyed taking care of her kids, grandkids and family. Irene loved cooking large meals for her family, and traveling to Disney World with them. She had a giving heart and would often make contributions to help support the homeless. Survivors include her children, Tina Kappel (Mark Albrecht), Margie Hart, Lisa Gladden, Joe Vatter; grandchildren, Amanda Hart-Gaddis (Kenny), Amy Mugford (Floyden), Anthony Gladden (Myr), Andrew Gladden, Annie Kappel; great grandchildren, Kameron Gaddis, Bryson Gladden, Maelyn Gaddis, Freya Mugford; Siblings, Charles Urconis, Lucy Whitt and Judy Osborne (Stephen). Her parents, husband, brothers, Oliver, Dan, Melvin, Paul and Everett Workman, Frank and Jimmy Urconis; sisters Dorothy Bland, Sarah Crabtree, Frances Honaker, Verna Thompson.
Visitation will be held at 12:30pm with services beginning at 1:30pm on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will follow in the West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
