I was unaware of Mr. Toon’s passing, but wanted to leave my thoughts. My parents lived next door to
Mr. Toon, in Plainfield, for many years. I recall many backyard games and croquet games with his kids. Mr. Toon tolerated us all as he went about yard and mowing duties. I did not know of all his special talents.
I do remember his generosity in writing me a letter of recommendation in 1965, to give to a university.
I was later admitted to that university. I am proud to have known him as one of the most generous and unselfish individuals I have known. Thank you, Pete.

Mr. Toon was our teacher at Milroy and our coach. I have fond memories of him when he was there. He was a very accomplished man according to his obituary which was very interesting to those of us who knew him. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Beth,
Very sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I knew he was an accomplished man, but was not aware of the extent until I read the obituary. I hope you and your family are finding comfort.

Pete and my dad (Herschel Marshall) were friends. I know Pete was very kind to Dad after my mom passed away,. And Dad passed away four years ago, on the exact same date. My sincere condolences. They were indeed the greatest generation!

Mr.Toon, I first met as a student teacher at Ben Davis. Later I had the privilege of being the Toons' mail carrier. Both were very gracious and generous people. I remember that when Mr. Toon learned I was becoming a baseball official that he gave me all his umpiring gear. He and Mrs. Toon are examples that all younger and older alike should emulate. My condolences to their family.

Working with Mr Toon was such a wonderful, growing experience. I respected him greatly. I was an English teacher at Ben Davis while he was a VP. Everyone loved him and learned from his example. He will be missed and I send my sympathies to his family. We were all blessed to know him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Pete's legacy will live through so many, as to know him was such an honor. Pete and Mimi were so kind, loving and warm to so many, especially the young Red Pride girls, who also adored Mimi's cooking! Honored to have known Pete. Thank you for sharing your dad with us.

I often wondered what ever happen to him. I never had to go see him when I was at BDHS, but when I started there we were allowed to go outside at lunch time and hang. This was actually where the students went to smoke and unfortunately "get high". There would always be someone at the door watching for and adult and then you would here " Toon is coming, Toon is coming" all through the kids and that meant put everything down and out. He would come out and walk through all the kids and if there was a lit cigarette he would just step on it an put it out then go on.
My prayers go to the family and I am sure he will be missed dearly.

Pete Toon came to Sugar Grove Senior Living when my mother, Jayne Ann Jones was still there. He was always friendly with everyone, and of course - he loved to watch sports on television. I knew Terry from high school, and he would visit his dad often, and so did his sisters. My condolence to the family - I know he was proud of all of you.

We have only fond memories of Uncle Pete. Our times visiting Pete and Dorothy we always fun and they went out of their way to find fun things to do. We regret that the long distance from our home in Oregon made frequent visits difficult. Our prayers and hearts are with you.
God Bless- Chuck, Jane and Donna

I first met Mr. Toon when I was a student at Fulton Jr. High School. It was then my honor to meet Pete a seocnd time when I went to work for Wayne Township Schools in 1986. Pete was then an Assistant Principal at BDHS. Pete was a gentleman and I called him my friend.
