Helen Lucille Walton (Carter) Berghane

Helen Lucille Carter Walton Berghane age 97, Danville passed away on March 6, 2017.  Born on August 11, 1919 in the family farmhouse near Clayton, Indiana where she lived until graduating Clayton High School in 1937.  She rode the interurban to downtown, Indianapolis where she was employed by various businesses until her permanent position job at Eli Lilly. She retired from Lilly’s after nearly 30 years.  She met and married H. Clarence Walton, they lived near Danville and had 2 sons David G. Walton (Deceased) and William E. Walton surviving.  4 Grandchildren: Heather Webb, Scott Walton, Kaye DeFleur and Timothy Walton. 2 Step grandchildren Natalia Kanevsky and Alexei Czeskis.  8 Greatgrandchildren; 2 Step Greatgrandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.  Her first husband passed in 1977. Lucille then spent winters in South Texas near her sister’s home.  After a few Texas winters she met and eventually married Earl Berghane. They traveled extensively and had many happy years together until he passed.  Lucille moved to Crestwood Village West Indianapolis. She, her sister Mildred, her son Don and Daughter Anne joined an International Walking Club.  The 2 sisters walked in all 50 states and some Canadian Provinces.  Lucille and Mildred walked all these miles when they were 72-85 years old.  Both also made many baby blankets for the Danville Friends Church Missions.  Lucille had a long a productive life, she had happy times with family and will be missed by anyone that knew her.  Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday March 8, 2017 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville.  Funeral services will start at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Mill Creek Cemetery.  Please make donations to the Arthritis Foundation 615 North Alabama Ste. 430 Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.  Condolences can be made at www.bakerfuneralservice.com
