Helen F. Porter, 76 of Plainfield, passed away September 17, 2017.  Born May 21, 1941 in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Charlie and Mary Jane (Sheese) Guess.  She graduated from Garfield High School in 1959.  Helen married James H. Porter on December 4, 1960 in Terre Haute. 

She worked at Plainfield High School from 1980-1996 in the cafeteria and as a custodian.  She had previously worked at Kenly Company and was a care giver and costume designer.  Helen belonged to the Church of Christ in Brazil, IN. and obeyed the Gospel on October 30, 1960.  She was a Brownie Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. 

Survivors include her husband, Jim Porter of Plainfield; sons, Greg Porter (Michele Trimble) of New Castle, Chuck Porter (Jennifer May) of Logansport; daughters, Kathy Porter of Ladoga, Connie Caldwell (Curt Caldwell) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kacie (Nick) Hardman, Brenda (Eric) Martin, Amanda DePree (Josh Smith), Grant (Natalie) DePree, Brittany (Andrew) Swan, Samantha Warrum, Arizona Campbell, Brice Tolbert, Justin Porter, Daniel Porter, Neal Caldwell; great grandchildren, Arianna, Andrew, Serenity, Alaina, Noah, Ivy, Cameron, Ellie, Nolan, Mallory, Landon, Peanut, Alice; brothers, sisters in Christ; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.  Her parents and brother, Roy Guess, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease Family Support c/o Pattie Daviau 525 S Harris Ave Indianapolis, IN 46222.
