Ernest A. Cregar, Jr., 85 of Danville, passed away February 20, 2018. Born January 24, 1933 in Still River, Massachusetts, he was the son of Helen Haughn and Ernest A. Cregar, Sr. He was an U S Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Caleb Butler Masonic Lodge in Massachusetts. A second generation carpenter, he built many homes including his daughter’s house, before retiring in 1997, after more than 50 years in the trade. Ernest loved woodworking, reading and all sports. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers. Survivors include his son, Ernest A. Cregar III of Danville; daughters, Larraine (Steve) Smith of Danville, Sue-Ellen (Kevin) Fairbanks of Cherry Valley, MA.; brothers, Lawrence (Sheila) Cregar, Royal (Sandy) Cregar, both of Harvard, MA.; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. His parents; sons, Kenneth Lawrence Cregar, Wayne Douglas Cregar; brothers, Eugene, Donald Cregar and sister, Dorothy Cregar, preceded him in death. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service in the funeral home.
